VI annual session commemorating Academician I.K.Akhunbaev

On May 19, the VI Annual Session of the Scientific-Research Institute of Heart Surgery and Organs Transplantation (NIIKHSTO) took place in Bishkek, dedicated to the memory of the esteemed Academician I.K. Akhunbaev. This significant event marked the anniversary of the first open heart surgery in Central Asia, performed by Academician Akhunbaev on May 19, 1959, which pioneered cardiac surgery in Kyrgyzstan.

The conference brought together medical professionals from various regions of the Kyrgyz Republic, united in their collective effort to combat cardiovascular diseases. With a focus on interdisciplinary discussions, the exchange of expertise, and the acquisition of practical knowledge, the Akhunbaev Conference aimed to enhance the multi-level system of care for patients with cardiovascular ailments.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from the Minister of Health, G.M. Baatyrova, along with notable figures such as Professor N.I. Akhunbaeva, Professor Kh.S. Bebezov, Professor M.N. Namazbekov, A.A. Sherova, Professor K.A. Abdramanov, Professor T.A. Batyraliev, and the Rector of the International Higher School of Medicine - S.M. Akhunbaev.

The session featured renowned cardiovascular surgeons and X-ray endovascular surgeons who shared their expertise, discussing the latest advancements in the field. Their participation in the conference exemplified a significant scientific event, driven by a collective desire to master new technologies and utilize knowledge for the benefit of patients.

Looking ahead, the program scheduled for May 20 includes a bike route from Chok-Tal to the village of Toru-Aigyr, Issyk-Kul region. The participants will have the opportunity to pay their respects to Academician I.K. Akhunbaev by laying flowers at his monument in Toru-Aigyr.
