Internship Program

The Internship Program in General Medical Practice (Specialty 217) at the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM), approved by the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, is a one-year, full-time program designed to provide comprehensive postgraduate training for young doctors. Graduates are awarded the qualification General Practitioner upon successful completion.

Program Structure
The curriculum ensures broad professional development, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills across all key areas of clinical medicine.
The internship covers a wide range of clinical specialties essential for a general practitioner, including:
Core Disciplines
• Family Medicine (12 weeks)
• Internal Medicine (6 weeks)
• Pediatrics (3 weeks)
• Surgical Diseases (6 weeks)
• Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care (2 weeks)
• Obstetrics and Gynecology (7 weeks)
• Psychiatry (2 weeks)
• Traumatology and Orthopedics (2 weeks)
• Emergency Medical Care (2 weeks)
• Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (1 week)
• Infectious Diseases, Dermatovenereology and Leprology (1 week)
• Otorhinolaryngology (2 weeks)
• Ophthalmology (2 weeks)

Elective Disciplines
• Group 1 (2 weeks minimum): Phtisiopulmonology; Radio diagnosis; Geriatric medicine; Lab diagnostics and analytics
• Group 2 (1 week): Ayurveda; Yoga; Unani; Siddha; Homeopathy; Sowa Rigpa
Interns may also choose from elective courses tailored to their professional interests, ensuring flexibility and deeper specialization in selected fields.
Assessment and Final State Attestation
Knowledge and clinical skills are assessed through examinations, differentiated credits, and practical evaluations. The program culminates in a comprehensive MCQ examination and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), ensuring readiness for independent medical practice.
