IHSM Representative Completes DAAD Scientific Internship in Germany

The International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Makhabat K. Karagulova, Head of the International Affairs Department, Ph.D. (Philology), Associate Professor, has successfully completed a scientific internship under the DAAD research program at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences (WHZ) in Zwickau, Germany, from June 1 to August 31, 2025.

The internship focused on the development of a joint double degree program in Healthcare Management and the preparation of a master’s program in this field. Dr. Karagulova was supervised by Professor Tom Schaal, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Healthcare Sciences at WHZ, who guided her research and program development activities.

During her stay, Dr. Karagulova explored European educational practices, drafted proposals for curriculum structure and course content, and held consultations with WHZ professors.

She also met with Professor Silke Geithner, Rector of EHS Dresden,

Betina Sedlaczek, Head of International Office of WHZ, Professor Oliver Mauroner of HOF University, and the Head of International Departments - Ms. Susan Krause and Erasmus+ program’s coordinator - Mr. Jörg Noldin.

As a result of the internship, a manuscript has been prepared for publication in a Scopus-indexed journal. The outcomes of this work will serve as a foundation for launching a joint master’s program in cooperation with universities of Kyrgyzstan.

This achievement marks a significant step in strengthening IHSM’s international academic partnerships and contributes to the advancement of healthcare management education in Kyrgyzstan.
