On April 23–24, 2025, the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) took part in the international conference “Strengthening University Collaboration Between Europe and Central Asia: Expanding Opportunities through Joint Programs, Research and Mobility.” The event gathered university faculty, researchers, Erasmus+ National Office representatives, and higher education policymakers from five Central Asian countries and Europe. With around 50 participants, the conference served as a platform for exchanging best practices and fostering new partnerships aimed at transforming higher education through cross-border collaboration.
The dynamic interplay between Europe and Central Asia in higher education reflects an increasing demand for global engagement and shared innovation. A key enabler of this cooperation is the Erasmus+ programme, which empowers institutions through mobility, capacity building, and joint academic initiatives. During the event, participants discussed how such collaborations are addressing contemporary challenges—such as sustainability, digitalization, and public health—while also nurturing long-term academic networks. For IHSM, the conference reinforced its commitment to internationalization, academic excellence, and cultivating a globally competent generation of students and educators.
