Participation in Erasmus+ DEFA Conference on Financial Autonomy
From March 10 to 14, 2025, the International University of Kyrgyzstan hosted the conference "Experience in Implementing the Model of Financial Autonomy in Kyrgyz Universities: Challenges and Prospects" as part of the Development of the Financial Autonomy of Universities in Kyrgyzstan (DEFA) project, Erasmus+, co-funded by the European Commission. The event brought together representatives of key universities, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, and international experts to discuss strategies for financial independence in higher education institutions. Participants engaged in discussions on best practices, case studies, and hands-on workshops led by experts from the University of Florence (Italy) and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany).
The International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) was represented by Ainazik M. Omurzakova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Ph.D. (Law), who presented a report on the implementation of the financial autonomy model at IHSM, and Makhabat K. Karagulova, Head of the International Affairs Department, Ph.D. (Philology), Associate Professor, who addressed project quality assurance. Additionally, Tolonbek Sh. Abdyrov,Vice-Rector for economics and development, D.Sc. (Economics), Professor andEmir T. Stamaliev, IHSM’s accountant, participated in discussions on financial management strategies. IHSM’s contributions emphasized the institution’s commitment to sustainable financial governance and the advancement of higher education autonomy in Kyrgyzstan.
