Erasmus+ D-TIDE-KG Project on the Digital Transformation of Doctoral Education Launched in Bishkek

On 15-16 January 2026, the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) hosted the Kick-off Meeting of the international Erasmus+ CBHE project D-TIDE-KG – “Digital Transformation of Inclusive Doctoral Education in the Kyrgyz Republic” (Project No. 101236535).

The project will be implemented from 1 November 2025 to 1 November 2028 and aims to promote equitable, accessible, and high-quality doctoral education in the Kyrgyz Republic through the integration of digital technologies and the harmonization of PhD programmes with the standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

Welcoming remarks were delivered by:

  • representatives of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic,
  • the National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic,
  • the leadership of the International Higher School of Medicine,
  • as well as representatives of European and Kyrgyz partner universities.

During the first session, the participating organizations presented their roles and contributions to the implementation of the project.

Key objectives of the D-TIDE-KG project include:

  • development and implementation of an IT platform for digital PhD programmes;
  • launch of 10 digital doctoral programmes;
  • expansion of access to doctoral education for students from remote and underserved regions;
  • training of at least 100 academic and administrative staff members;
  • enrollment of 100 doctoral candidates in pilot programmes;
  • revision of three national regulatory documents in the field of doctoral education;
  • development of a long-term sustainability plan for the project.

The International Higher School of Medicine (Kyrgyzstan) serves as the project coordinator.

The consortium also includes:

  • leading universities of the Kyrgyz Republic,
  • Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany),
  • Vilnius University (Lithuania),
  • the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic,
  • the European Documentation Centre (EDC).

Such a broad partnership ensures effective knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building, and alignment of the project with European educational standards.

The D-TIDE-KG project represents an important step toward the modernization of doctoral education and the integration of the Kyrgyz Republic into the global academic community.
