Visit of European Commission Representative to IHSM within Erasmus+ Project

On October 8th, 2024, the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) welcomed a high-level representative from the European Commission as part of their ongoing assessment of Erasmus+ program initiatives. The delegation included Maria-Sol Dominguez Parrado, Project Officer of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, Gulnara R. Isaeva, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Kyrgyzstan and Nurlan K. Omurov, Ph.D., Project Coordinator of the Erasmus+ DEFA Project at the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov.

The visit aimed to evaluate IHSM's progress in internationalization, reform policies, and internal management. It also focused on assessing the impact of Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects on IHSM’s staff, students, and external stakeholders such as public authorities, the private sector, and NGOs. The delegation sought to identify factors that have contributed to the sustainability of project results and offer recommendations for future initiatives.

The visit began with a welcome speech by IHSM Rector, Stalbek M. Akhunbaev, followed by a presentation of the institution's closed Erasmus+ project results, including DERECKA and TUTORIAL, presented by Assoc.Prof. Dr. Kenesh O. Dzhusupov, Ph.D., coordinator of the projects, and Aliia E. Bazhanova, M.D., Dean of Postgraduate Studies, coordinator of HARMONEE project.

The delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the IHSM Fundraising Office, developed within the Erasmus+ Project DEFA, and toured several key facilities. This included Lecture Hall #1 and the Postgraduate Dean Office, both tangible products of the Erasmus+ initiatives. They also visited the Public Health Department and the Nutrition Room of the IHSM Medical Clinic “VEDANTA,” developed under the BERNICA project.

Additionally, the delegation participated in the opening of the IHSM Green and Digital Office, established as part of the Erasmus+ GREENKG project, located within the Humanities Department.

The visit concluded with a productive meeting between the delegation and IHSM project representatives involved in Erasmus+ programs such as DEFA, GREENKG, DERECKA, HARMONEE, BERNICA, and TUTORIAL. Discussions revolved around ensuring the continued success and sustainability of these projects, reaffirming IHSM’s commitment to academic excellence and global collaboration.
