The international conference titled “Kyrgyz Statehood and the Phenomenon of Manas” was held in Bishkek

The National Academy “Manas,” the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, and the Ch. Aitmatov Literature Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic jointly organized this international scientific-practical conference.

The conference brought together foreign scholars, including James Plumtree (United Kingdom), Punit Gaur (India), Nadjie Yildiz and Mehmet Ceribash (Turkey), as well as the renowned Kazakh manaschi and writer Bayangali Alimzhanov. In addition, manas researchers, students, scholars, and educators attended the event.

The main objective of the conference was to discuss the historical development of Kyrgyz statehood and the phenomenon of the epic “Manas” from the perspective of contemporary scientific approaches. Participants presented reports on national identity, modern concepts of statehood, and the role of the “Manas” epic in world culture, followed by in-depth discussions.

On behalf of the International Higher School of Medicine, the Head of the Department of

State Language and Language Policy, R. J. Zaiyrkulova, delivered a report on “Methods for Comparative Study of the Epic ‘Manas’ and the Epic ‘Mahabharata.’”

The event was recognized as an important platform for the scholarly re-examination of the “Manas” epic, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting Kyrgyz spiritual heritage to the world.
