The official opening ceremony of the International Center for Civilizational Studies “Manas and Mahabharata”, established by the Manas Academy, along with the presentation of the first-ever Hindi translation of the Kyrgyz national epic “Manas,” took place as a landmark event aimed at strengthening scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of India.
The event was organized with the support of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of India and the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Kyrgyz Republic. It brought together government officials, members of the official Indian delegation, scholars, diplomats, representatives of higher educational institutions, cultural figures, Manas researchers, and students.
The International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) was represented by R.J. Zaiyrkulova, Head of the Department of the State Language and Language Policy; A.M. Orozalieva, representative of the Department of Specialized Clinical Disciplines; D.A. Galieva, Expert Linguist; M.A. Kibraeva, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Humanities; and second-semester Group 28 students Kesari Gopal Tekade and Susmita Mondal.
The newly established Center is intended to strengthen humanitarian cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and India through comprehensive research on the epics “Manas” and “Mahabharata,” as well as the broader cultural heritage of Eurasia. It aims to promote comparative civilizational studies, expand international scientific cooperation, and support the training of young researchers.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the first Hindi translation of the epic “Manas.” The translation was prepared by Indian scholars Professor Hem Chandra Pande and Professor Ramakant Dwivedi, based on the Russian poetic adaptation by Mar Baijiev, and includes the epics “Manas,” “Semetey,” and “Seitek.”
The ceremony was attended by an official delegation from the Republic of India, including Sunil Ambekar, Member of the National Executive Committee of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Head of Media and Communications for the organization across India, who headed the delegation; Dr. Punil Gaur, Honorary Director of the Centre for the Study of International Relations (CSIR) and expert of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA); Dr. Professor Ramakant Dwivedi, Head of the India–Central Asia Foundation (ICAF), Director of the MERI Centre for International Studies, and translator of the Hindi edition of the epic “Manas”; and Dr. Professor Hem Chandra Pande, a distinguished Indian linguist, translator, and former Head of the Centre of Russian Language and Literature at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
