On March 28, 2026, the Kyrgyz language instructors of the Department of Humanities at IHSM organized an educational visit for 4th-semester students to the Ala-Too Cinema for the premiere of the Kyrgyz feature film “Nelegal” (illegal immigrant).
The event became a vivid example of integrating language learning with cultural experience. Watching the film in the Kyrgyz language allowed students not only to improve their listening skills but also to immerse themselves in authentic spoken language, national identity, and the modern cinematic environment of Kyrgyzstan.
The film “Nelegal” addresses relevant social issues and tells the story of a person who finds himself in a difficult life situation far from his homeland. The main character faces challenges related to migration, legal status, and personal choice, going through trials that reveal themes of identity, justice, and human dignity. The film combines drama, realism, and deep psychological insight, encouraging viewers to reflect on the fates of people in the context of global migration.
The visit to the cinema was not merely a leisure activity but an important part of the educational process. Such initiatives play a significant role in teaching international students, helping them better understand the language through culture while also fostering respect for Kyrgyz national cinema and traditions.
IHSM continues to support a practice-oriented approach to education, combining academic knowledge with real cultural experience.
