IHSM First-Semester Students Visit the Department of Human Genetics
On January 21, four groups of first-semester students of the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) visited the Department of Human Genetics as part of their regular extracurricular (out-of-class) activities within the Medical Biology course.
The visit included an instructive lecture delivered by Tatyana V. Kostritsyna, Acting Associate Professor of the Department of Natural Sciences Disciplines. During the session, students were introduced to the main stages of cytogenetic research conducted at the Department of Human Cytogenetics.
As part of the practical component, students examined microslides demonstrating structural and numerical chromosomal abnormalities in human karyotypes. Following the practical session, an interactive discussion was held on key issues of clinical cytogenetics, including the causes of chromosomal abnormalities and the timing of their detection during human ontogenesis.
The educational visit was organized by Associate Professor Tatyana V. Kostritsyna, Ph.D. (Biology), contributing to the enhancement of students’ practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of human genetics.
