IHSM Strengthens Global Public Health Education through PHILA
Pr. Kenesh O. Dzhusupov, Ph.D., Head of the Public Health Department at the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM), has been appointed as a member of the Steering Committee of the newly established Public Health Interprofessional Leadership Alliance (PHILA). His participation reinforces IHSM’s commitment to advancing global health education and training.
From April 19–21, 2024, Zhejiang University hosted the International Forum on Public Health and Emergency Workforce: Competency-Based Education. The event gathered over 240 participants from 58 universities across 20 countries, alongside representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and other prominent global health organizations.
A key outcome of the forum was the launch of PHILA, a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening international partnerships in public health education. The alliance focuses on competency-based learning and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance workforce development in public health.
IHSM’s master’s and doctoral programs are designed to align with both the professional standards of the Kyrgyz Republic and PHILA’s international benchmarks. This ensures that IHSM graduates are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to address global public health challenges effectively.
