IHSM Professors Join Royal Thai Embassy’s Flagship Health Diplomacy Project in Thailand

From June 21 to July 1, 2025, representatives of the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) took part in a flagship project initiated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, under the framework of “Development Diplomacy.” The program, aimed at strengthening health security capacities in Central Asia, was organized for medical and public health professionals from the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, with the support of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

IHSM was represented by Assoc. Prof. Kenesh O. Dzhusupov, Head of the Department, Ph.D. (Medicine); Dr. Artur I. Buiuklianov, Lecturer, Ph.D. (Medicine); and Dr. Indira M. Zholdosheva, Vice Head of the Department, M.D., Assistant.

The academic delegation had the unique opportunity to visit some of Thailand’s leading medical institutions in Bangkok, Khon Kaen, and Pattaya, where they engaged in high-level discussions, observed best practices in healthcare delivery, and exchanged knowledge on topics such as emergency preparedness, infection control, and non-communicable disease prevention.

Highlights of the visit included:

  • Study visits to Samitivej Children’s Hospital, BNH Hospital, and Chulabhorn Royal Academy in Bangkok;
  • Collaborative meetings with the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University;
  • Field visits in Khon Kaen Province, including the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute and rural healthcare centers;
  • Exploration of medical tourism models in Pattaya, integrating wellness and leisure for international patients.

This initiative not only strengthened professional ties between IHSM and Thai institutions but also contributed to building bridges of long-term cooperation in healthcare, research, and medical education.

IHSM expresses its gratitude to the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana and TICA for this opportunity and looks forward to future collaboration with partners in Thailand—working together toward sustainable global health and knowledge exchange.
