Smart Healthcare Forum in China of Shanghai Cooperation Organization

A delegation from the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) took part in the Smart Healthcare Sub-Forum of the China-Shanghai Organization (SCO) Forum on Digital Technology Development, held at the Karamay Convention and Exhibition Center in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China from June 17–19, 2025.

The IHSM delegation was led by Rector Professor Stalbek M. Akhunbaev, accompanied by Dr. Aibek M. Chakiev, Deputy Director of University Hospital university VEDANTA, and Alibek B. Chukuldukov, Specialist at the Department of International Affairs.

Organized by the Karamay Medical Association, the forum gathered healthcare professionals, digital technology experts, and institutional leaders from across the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states to discuss the advancement of intelligent healthcare systems, international cooperation, and digital transformation in medicine.

As part of the program, the delegation visited Karamay Central Hospital, one of the leading institutions in China’s digital health ecosystem. During the forum, a Memorandum of Intent on International Medical Cooperation was signed, marking a commitment to collaborate on the regional project titled “Promotion of Adapted Medical Technologies in Five Central Asian Countries.”

This initiative aims to deepen cross-border cooperation in:

  • Building a “Healthy Silk Road”,
  • Advancing smart healthcare innovation and etc.

During the forum, Dr. Aibek M. Chakiev, delivered a keynote presentation on surgical service of the University Hospital VEDANTA He emphasized the implementation of modern surgical techniques, including minimally invasive procedures, and the integration of digital diagnostic tools to enhance surgical outcomes.

The IHSM’s active participation reflects its growing engagement in global health diplomacy and its commitment to fostering academic and medical collaboration across borders, especially within the SCO region.
