Round Table on the Results of Monitoring Compliance with the Rights of Foreign Students in the Kyrgyz Republic

On October 16, 2025, a round table on the topic “Results of Monitoring Compliance with the Rights of Foreign Students in the Kyrgyz Republic” was held. The event was organized by the Institute of the Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) of the Kyrgyz Republic, in cooperation with the Oasis Foundation and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Representation in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The meeting brought together representatives of government agencies, the Embassy of India, international organizations, higher education institutions, civil society, and foreign students. Participants discussed issues related to the safety of international students studying in the Kyrgyz Republic and explored ways to improve the protection of human rights and freedoms in the country.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Zhanibek Zhorobaev, Deputy Akyikatchy, emphasized that, in accordance with international norms and national legislation, Kyrgyzstan pays particular attention to preventing discrimination based on ethnicity or nationality.

“The Institute of the Akyikatchy continuously monitors the observance of human rights, regardless of citizenship or origin, to ensure that every person feels protected in our country,” — noted Mr. Zhorobaev.
