Gastroenterology

The course "Gastroenterology" is a must to study at senior courses of IHSM. In the initial courses, students have received the basic knowledge that is necessary for the study of clinical disciplines. Knowledge of anatomy and pathological anatomy, physiology and pathological physiology, pharmacology, propaedeutic therapy, the basics of medical communication and deontology, and other knowledge serve as the basis for understanding the essence of diseases, diagnostics, diagnosing, treating and preventing internal diseases.

Digestive organs diseases represent one of the most important sections of internal diseases. Diseases of the stomach (chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer), inflammatory diseases of the intestines, liver (hepatitis) are some of the common and serious diseases of internal organs.

As part of this course, students should gain knowledge and practical skills in the diagnostics, treatment and prevention of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (duodenal ulcer), diseases of the small intestine, inflammatory processes of the large intestine, chronic hepatitis, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, cirrhosis and liver failure. Chronic diseases of the liver and biliary ducts are often found in the population of Central Asia. Chronic viral hepatitis, toxic (alcoholic) hepatitis remain the main causes of cirrhosis. One of the main causes of toxic liver damage is also the negative effects of drugs. Therefore, the rational and safe use of drugs in the treatment of pathology of the liver, pancreas and other diseases is one of the main conditions for the prevention of chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis.
