Courses Fundamental Disciplines Department (IK)

Pathology

Pathology is a fundamental medical science that studies the causes, mechanisms of development, manifestations and outcomes of diseases, as well as structural and functional changes in human cells, tissues and organs.
The purpose of studying the discipline: Formation of students' holistic understanding of the patterns of occurrence, development and outcomes of pathological processes necessary for understanding the clinical manifestations of diseases and substantiating methods of their diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

The main objectives of the discipline are:
  • to study the causes (etiology) and mechanisms (pathogenesis) of disease development;
  • analysis of morphological and functional changes in organs and tissues during pathological processes; • establishing the relationship between structural changes and clinical manifestations of diseases;
  • formation of skills to interpret pathological processes as a basis for clinical thinking;
  • preparing students for mastering clinical disciplines and practical medical practice. The need to study the discipline: Pathology is a link between fundamental biomedical sciences and clinical medicine.

Studying its principles allows students to understand the essence of pathological changes in the body, which is the basis for diagnosing, predicting the course and choosing rational methods of treating diseases.
