HIV - infection (Elective course)

Despite remarkable advances in HIV treatment and prevention, the HIV epidemic remains a significant global public health and clinical challenge — especially among adults who face complex prevention, treatment and long-term care issues. This elective course offers an in-depth exploration designed for medical, public-health and allied-health students.

Why This Course Matters

  • Clinical care for adults: Management of HIV in adults involves early diagnosis, lifelong antiretroviral therapy (ART), monitoring comorbidities (cardiovascular, renal, bone disease), aging with HIV and psychosocial issues.
  • Prevention & public health: Strategies include pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), universal testing, treatment as prevention (U=U), harm-reduction programmes and structural interventions..
