The course “Latin” is one of the comprehensive subjects to educate students of all medical institutions in accordance with the volume and requirement of the educational standard of medicine. Learning of Latin language in the International Higher School of Medicine is a tool for mastering professional language in medical science-its terminology.
The Course Objective:
Formation of the bases of language and speech competence for operational and competent use of the international nomenclature, clinical and pharmaceutical names.
The tasks of the discipline are:
1.Teaching students the elements of Latin grammar necessary for understanding and correcting use of anatomical, pharmaceutical and clinical terms in Latin.
2.Teaching students the basis of medical terminology in its three subsystems: anatomical, pharmaceutical and clinical.
3. Formation of student’s skill of fast and competent writing of terms in Latin.
4. Formation of a student's ability to quickly and competently translate receipts.
5. To master the skills of clinical word formation, constructing and analyzing the clinical
terms.

- common terms and its structure and meaning

- master elements of Latin grammar, necessary to understand Latin medical terms.
- correct usage of innovative professional language and to understand rules defining origin terms. -form terms and extract information included in it.
- read, write in Latin and use anatomical, pharmaceutical and clinical terms;
- write correctly the Latin part of a prescription;
- determine the General meaning of clinical terms;
- explain the meaning of clinical terms, based on the knowledge of Greek-Latin doublet notation.
