In the modern system of training a doctor, including in the specialty "General Medicine", basic pharmacology is one of the most important areas of medical knowledge.
Basic pharmacology studies the interaction of drugs with the human body: general patterns, features of the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of groups and individual pharmacological drugs, side effects, indications, and contraindications for use. As an academic discipline, basic pharmacology forms ideas about the fundamental properties of medicinal substances that determine their pharmacological activity, as well as the principles and rules for the effective, reliable, and safe use of drugs for the treatment, prevention, or diagnosis of diseases.
