Modern biophysics is one of the fundamental biological disciplines, and its knowledge is a necessary element of the general biological training of a doctor. This is a science that includes theoretical constructions and models based on modern physical and chemical concepts. They reflect the physical peculiarities of the molecular organization of processes in the living objects, which in turn create the molecular basis of biological phenomena. The presentation of the course requires extensive biological material, as well as additional involvement of modern concepts of physics, chemistry, and mathematics. This is necessary for students to “feel” the specific nature and originality of molecular biological processes, to see how these features manifest themselves in biological systems. This is precisely the essence of the modern biophysical approach to the analysis of biological processes. The cell itself, being part of the whole organism, can be considered as a separate biological system. And the processes taking place inside the cell are subject to the laws of physics in the same way as the processes taking place in the whole organism.
It is impossible to imagine modern medicine without the use of accurate and reliable methods of analysis and forecasting. Mathematics covers a very wide area of concepts, ideas, techniques and methods. The picture of changes in living organisms over time can be described as it is envisaged in the language of mathematics with the application of differential equations, which are usually used to describe dynamic processes of development within certain timeframes. A living organism, as a biological system, is dynamic, variable, and subject to the influence of numerous complex factors interacting with each other, and its description requires a huge amount of diverse data. The collection of research findings with the subsequent analysis of large data arrays makes it possible to identify regularities inherent in wildlife. This task is performed by mathematical statistics. The position and role of mathematical methods in modern medicine requires fruitful cooperation between physicists, physicians and mathematicians.
