IHSM Representative Selected for the International POCUS Ambassador Program of the Inteleos Foundation

The International Higher School of Medicine is proud to announce that Irina A. Akhmedova, Assistant of the Department of Cardiac Surgery and Radiology, has been selected to participate in the international POCUS Ambassador Program of the Inteleos Foundation (POCUS Certification Academy).

Founded in 2020, the Inteleos Foundation supports the mission of Inteleos, ARDMS, APCA, and the POCUS Certification Academy, uniting approximately 115,000 physicians and ultrasound professionals from nearly 70 countries worldwide. The organization is dedicated to expanding access to high-quality medical education, training, and certification in ultrasound diagnostics, thereby improving patient outcomes and strengthening healthcare systems globally.

Through the POCUS Ambassador Program, the Foundation develops a network of healthcare leaders who promote the implementation of ultrasound technologies, professional training, and certification initiatives in their respective countries. The program currently operates in more than 25 countries across six continents.

As part of this international initiative, Irina A. Akhmedova presented a project focused on the implementation of neonatal echocardiographic screening for congenital heart defects. The project aims to improve the early detection of congenital heart diseases in newborns through the training of primary healthcare professionals in screening echocardiography techniques.

A key component of the initiative is the establishment of a sustainable referral system and close collaboration with specialized cardiac centers to ensure timely diagnosis, referral, and treatment of patients requiring advanced medical care.

Participation in the Inteleos Foundation POCUS Ambassador Program reflects IHSM’s commitment to advancing medical education, supporting innovative healthcare initiatives, and improving maternal and child health through modern diagnostic technologies.
