Asia-Pacific Congress on Public Health in China

Professor Ainash A. Sharshenova, D.Sc. (Medicine), participated in the Asia-Pacific Congress on Public Health (Boao, Hainan, People’s Republic of China) held from 30 November to 1 December 2025, upon the official invitation of Professor Xiao-Nong Zhou, Director of the One Health Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

As part of the Congress, the Forum for Education in Global Health and One Health hosted a side event of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) dedicated to strengthening collaboration among Centres of Excellence in Global Public Health Education. The sub-forum focused on enhancing cooperation, coordination, communication, and capacity building to advance the health workforce and regional health security.

During the programme, Professor Sharshenova took part in a series of expert discussions addressing the following key areas:
• leadership development and strengthening of human resources for health systems;
• multisectoral cooperation in responding to epidemic threats;
• enhancing the resilience of countries in the region to public health emergencies;
• exchange of scientific knowledge and development of educational programmes in public health.
Her participation contributed to strengthening international collaboration, expanding institutional partnerships, and promoting the scientific and educational potential of the department at the global level. It also supported the development of professional competencies of public health specialists in the region.

The event brought together leading experts from Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The sub-forum was organized by the CAREC Programme with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
