Food and CateringFood is one of the most essential aspects of student life. Understanding this necessity, IHSM ensures proper food and catering services through its dedicated mess/canteen. The mess is managed by IHSM Representatives for India and Pakistan, providing students with meals that cater to their dietary preferences.
The IHSM's hostel features a canteen where experienced Indian cooks prepare traditional Indian cuisine. However, at present, the mess exclusively serves Indian and Pakistani students.
The IHSM mess offers a diverse menu, including chapatti, rice, sweets, and other traditional dishes. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available - vegetarian meals consist of vegetables and pulses, while non-vegetarian meals include mutton, chicken, and fish. Meals are served three times a day, and students are expected to follow the designated dining schedule.
Additionally, students can request special meals for birthdays, festivals, and celebrations by coordinating with the IHSM mess administration.
Beyond the campus, Bishkek is home to several Indian and Pakistani restaurants and cafes, such as The Host, Oops, Papa Rotti, and Indian Village, offering students various dining and socializing options.
AccommodationIHSM provides comfortable and secure accommodation for both male and female students in its dormitories. The hostel facilities are designed to ensure a convenient and safe living environment.
Each hostel has dedicated staff responsible for maintaining cleanliness in rooms, corridors, and shared spaces such as toilets and bathrooms. Female wardens oversee student safety in the hostels, while additional security measures, including inner gates and police security, ensure students' well-being.
Representatives from the IHSM Student Community, particularly the Senators for Hostel Affairs, reside in the dormitories to assist students with any concerns. Hostel facilities include:
- Shared toilets and bathrooms with continuous hot and cold water supply
- Laundry rooms
- Gym halls
- Individual reading and study rooms
- Billiards rooms (in some hostels)
- Wi-Fi access
Students are allowed to enter the hostel premises until 10:00 PM, with security personnel ensuring safety at all times.
For those preferring private housing, students may choose from various accommodation options, including apartments, flats, and houses. Rental prices vary, starting from approximately $200 per month, depending on location and type of housing.
