Key highlights of the passing year at the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM).

In August, the XXIX World Echinococcosis Congress took place at the I.K.Akhunbaev Kyrgyz  State  Medical Academy. This significant scientific event occurred for the first time in Kyrgyzstan. Notably, Kyrgyzstan became the first post-Soviet and Russian-speaking state to organize this global forum.

Kyrgyzstan’s leading role in this event isn’t coincidental. Agriculture is the cornerstone of Kyrgyzstan’s economy, making the threat of echinococcosis, a dangerous disease transmitted from animals to humans, particularly relevant. The longstanding collaboration between Kyrgyzstan’s medical professionals and their counterparts from other countries facilitates learning and application of the latest medical advancements.

Specialists in the prevention and control of this hazardous disease from various countries attended the congress. Those unable to attend joined the conference online.
