Residency programs

Postgraduate education or postgraduate primary specialization is an integral part of higher medical education. The requirements of higher medical education establish that a graduate of a higher medical school can provide qualified and specialized medical care only after a sufficiently continuous and focused training. Medical postgraduate education involves professional training of a specialist to the extent compatible with the qualification characteristics of the doctor of the chosen specialty. Apart from professional skills the perception and realization of medical ethics are nurtured with another important component of the profession, which is the communication with patients.

In the Kyrgyz Republic, the main type of postgraduate  education is the training of clinical medicine specialists, particularly clinical residency with a three-year study period.

The International Higher School of Medicine provides training for foreign students, mainly from India and Pakistan. As in the countries of the British Commonwealth, in these countries, the duration of postgraduate education for residency is 3 years. This educational program is adapted to the training programs (syllabuses) in the master's program in India and at the same time includes the requirements specified for this type of training in our country.

Upon completion of the residency program and successfully passing of the state final certification, graduates receive a certificate and, after passing the certification exam, certificates of specialists shall be approved as permits for independent medical practice.

In any educational residency program, great attention is paid to gaining of practical skills. This is achieved, in particular, by the inclusion of a simulation course in the training schedule. In our school, a simulation course is offered at the Vedanta University Clinic, where residents can master the practical skills necessary for subsequent activities.
