ACCESSION OF IHSM TO AMSA

The Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) is a peak representative organization for medical students from across Asia, the Asia-Pacific and beyond. Training doctors from 27 Member Nations and 11 Associate/Observer Nations combine to share knowledge, undertake activities, social services and create international and trans-continental friendships.

AMSA was officially founded in Manila, the Philippines in 1985 and from this day has been an active, dynamic and exciting student-led, not-for-profit, non-political organization. Today, with members and friends spanning the globe, AMSA has an active student-exchange program, regularly undertakes national and regional projects, provides humanitarian assistance at times of need, produces quarterly student publications and liaises with the World Health Organization, the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia and many other international and regional medical student organizations.

Since its establishment, AMSA holds international conferences biannually in January/February and July/August. Representatives of International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM): specialist of International Affairs Department Ermek Doszhanov and member of Student Council Shivani Kochendra took part in the conference held in New Delhi, India from 5th to 10th January 2020.

So far, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are the only member countries among Central Asia, which shows the potential of advanced positions in this region.

Visiting such events certainly enhances the international experience, acquaints students of other countries with the culture and level of knowledge of other representatives, strengthens the country's position in recognition, moreover, it helps to establish partnerships.

Finally, such events give participants invaluable experience in representing the international arena not only their universities but also their countries.

Administration of IHSM expresses its gratitude to the members of the Student Council, in particular, Sonawane Omkar Diliprao, for doing tremendous contributions to become a member of AMSA and wishes every one of you all the best in your future endeavors.
