Delegations from USA and Japan visited IHSM
The International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) had the honor of hosting an esteemed delegation from the Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), and Osh State University (OshSU) on September 5th, 2024. This visit marks a significant collaboration aimed at advancing global health initiatives, environmental health education, and scientific research in air pollution assessment.
Key Objectives of the Visit:
- Air Pollution Research Collaboration: The discussions centered around creating an air pollution assessment system using satellite data and regional chemical transport modeling.
- Educational Program on Environmental Health: The second major topic of discussion was the development of an Environmental Health Educational Program in the Kadamjay District, Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan. This initiative focuses on climate change resilience and environmental protection, and a grant application has been submitted to the Public Diplomacy Department of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek to support this project.
Meeting Highlights:
• The visiting delegates engaged in productive meetings with IHSM’s administrative and faculty staff.
• A specialized meeting was held with the Public Health Department of IHSM to explore synergies in research and education.
• The delegation toured the IHSM Medical Clinic “VEDANTA,” where they observed the practical application of health services provided by IHSM.
Special Guest Lecture: Prof. Marc Nascarella delivered a guest lecture, where he shared insights on environmental health challenges and potential collaborative projects with IHSM. This lecture was attended by faculty, students, and staff, fostering further dialogue on international cooperation in medical and public health education.
The visit represents a significant step towards fostering international partnerships in medical education, public health, and environmental research, as IHSM continues to expand its global collaborations.
