GREENKG SUMMER SCHOOL
From July 22 to 30, 2024, Issyk-Kul was the venue for the summer school “Digital and Green Universities for the Sustainable Development of Kyrgyzstan” (GREENKG). This initiative, part of the European Commission’s Erasmus 2023 program under the Capacity Development of Higher Education (CDHE) component, brought together representatives from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Kyrgyzstan.
The summer school aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge to develop mandatory interdisciplinary and elective courses within their institutions, forming a group of experts in the process. Over nine days, attendees engaged in training workshops covering critical topics such as:
- Horizontal analysis of curricula and processes in Green Dimensions
- Development of modules on Green Dimensions
- Digitalization of University administrative processes
- Building Green University Infrastructure
International lecturers led the workshops and seminars, sharing insights and best practices. Additionally, Central Asian partners presented on their experiences with green initiatives and digitalization at their respective institutions. A notable highlight was the report on digital transformation presented by representatives from the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM).
The summer school concluded with an environmental action under the GREENKG project. Participants joined forces to clean the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, underscoring their commitment to a clean lake and a cleaner Kyrgyzstan.
This event marks a significant step towards integrating sustainable practices and digital transformation in Kyrgyzstan’s higher education system, fostering a greener and more technologically advanced future for the country.
