International conference: "The role of Kyrgyzstan in preventing the production and proliferation of biological weapons in the context of the situation in the Post-Soviet space"
The Center for Expert Initiatives "Oi Ordo" conducted an international conference: "The role of Kyrgyzstan in preventing the production and proliferation of biological weapons in the context of the situation in the Post-Soviet space" with the participation of Vice-Rector for scientific affairs and state language of the IHSM - Orozaly J. Uzakov on 15th November 2022.
The purpose of the event: to discuss topical issues of ensuring biological safety in the post-Soviet countries. The conference was held in the context of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological - Biological - and Toxin Weapons.
▪️ the role and importance of state and public organizations of Kyrgyzstan in reducing the risks of proliferation of biological weapons and protection from biological threats;
▪️potential threats to the life and health of the population, as well as the socio-economic well-being of the post-Soviet countries associated with the activities of foreign biological laboratories in their territories;
▪️does the presence of foreign biological laboratories in the CIS countries, whose activities may have both peaceful and military purposes, comply with the norms of the UN Convention "On the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction" (BTWC), etc.
During the conference, the participants prepared recommendations on preventing the production and proliferation of biological weapons, taking into account the resolution of the Bishkek Initiative to Close Biological Laboratories in the EAEU countries Funded by Non-aligned Countries.
