On August 28, the XXIX World Echinococcosis Congress opened at the Medical Academy named after I. Akhunbaev. Such a large-scale scientific event is being held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time. It is also noteworthy that the Kyrgyz Republic is the first post-Soviet (and the first Russian-speaking) state to take over the world baton for holding this world forum.
The fact that our country is among the first is not an accident. First of all, because agriculture is the basis of the Kyrgyz economy, and the most dangerous disease echinococcosis affects animals, being transmitted from them to humans. And also because the doctors of Kyrgyzstan have long and fruitfully cooperated with colleagues from other countries, exchanging experience and adopting all the latest achievements of medical science.
The congress was attended by specialists in the prevention and control of this dangerous disease from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, China, Turkey, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Iran, Peru, Bhutan. Those who could not come, connected to the conference online. Among the issues discussed are surgical and non-surgical treatment of echinococcosis, its competent and timely diagnosis, prevention, management of infection foci, a strategy to combat echinococcosis in highly endemic areas, and others.
