PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF MEDICAL EDUCATION IN KYRGYZSTAN

President of the World Federation of Medical  Education (WFME), Professor David Gordon, visited the Kyrgyz Republic on December 13, 2019.


During the visit, a regional meeting was held on the prospects for the development of medical education in Central Asia. The round table was attended by Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic - A. Omurbekova, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic - K. Cholponbaev and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic - N. Omurov, representatives of medical educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, as well as the heads of independent accreditation agencies in the region.

 

During the meeting, the participants discussed the problems and prospects of medical education in Central Asia, emphasizing the need for changes in this area in accordance with international standards and standards recommended by the World Federation of Medical Education.

 

The meeting was organized by the International University of Kyrgyzstan, International School of Medicine.


The following five medical universities took part in the meeting:


1. Kyrgyz State Medical University.


2.Kyrgyz-Russian Slavonic University.


3.Osh State University.


4. International University of Kyrgyzstan.


5. International School of Medicine.
