The UniRank rating does not take into account academic and scientific achievements, but it is formed on the basis of popularity and site traffic.

UniRank aims to provide a rough global ranking of the world's universities and colleges based on their web presence and popularity in terms of traffic scores, trust/authority and link popularity. Designed to help foreign students and teachers understand how popular a particular higher education institution is in another country.

In addition to the main ranking, UniRank publishes the results of Facebook University Rankings, Instagram University Ranking, YouTube University Rankings, which contain information about the most popular communities of universities and colleges included in the UniRank database, represented on social networks Facebook, Instagram, YouTube video hosting site.

In the Kyrgyz Republic, in 2021 Facebook University Ranking included 25 institutions of higher education out of 65 presented in the ranking.International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) according to the results of 2021 Facebook University Rankings took the 2nd position.
