Two Doctors program

Scavanging for news in the field of medicine around the globe, the anchor of the program Two Doctors visited  the Medical Clinic of the International Higher School of Medicine VEDANTA We are all used to the fact that modern operations are not performed in our country: there is either no specialist, or no appropriate equipment. Have you ever heard of ERCP?
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is essentially a radiopaque examination of the bile and pancreatic ducts and a medical procedure that allows you to examine the bile and pancreatic ducts and carry out the necessary treatment.
During the examination, an endoscope (a flexible optical tube with a camera at the end) is inserted through the pharynx and esophagus into the stomach and from there further into the duodenum. From the duodenum, the tube goes to the gailbladder opening (papilla), through which a contrast agent is injected either into the bile ducts or into the pancreatic duct, which allows diagnosing deviations in these ducts under X-ray.
In the course of further treatment, gallstones can be removed from the biliary tract if needed, stent can be installed to ensure the flow of bile, and if narrowed, both the bile and pancreatic ducts can be expanded. If a neoplasm is suspected, tissue samples can be taken.
Usually the examination lasts about 30 minutes, but depending on the anatomy, or specifics that emerge during the examination or the need for a medical procedure, the duration of the examination may increase.
The above manipulations are carried out by the doctor-surgeon-endoscopist Salamakunov Talant.
The operation allows both the diagnosis and treatment for patients who have an indication.  The advantages of this method are many. Among them is a short recovery period, absence of visible incisions on the patient’s body. This method is new for our country, but is popular around the world. So far, the Vedanta clinic is the only clinic in Bishkek and in Kyrgyzstan, where the ERCP method of diagnosis and treatment is used.
The team of the Two Doctors program wishes further prosperity to the Kyrgyz medicine and more innovations in medicine to our young doctors.
