HORIZON - Promoting Intercultural Harmony from the Platform of TUNDUK
In the true spirit of unity and inter-cultural harmony that is the hallmark of IHSM, TUNDUK, the vanguard of unity on campus organized HORIZON, just like every year. TUNDUK,( Kyrgyz word UNITY), has been working to bring people of different cultures together in IHSM so that we can all put our differences aside and coexist as brothers and sisters, as friends, and as colleagues collectively working towards making the learning experience at IHSM the best it can be.
The event, held on Monday, 18th of April, was attended by everyone from the administration officers, the Dean,Head of Support Service, the Curator of Support Services, and other prominent faculty members, not only from IHSM but other notable institutes too.
The theme of the event was to highlight the similarities in different cultures and emphasize that the differences are not all that important. It will be safe to say that it was the most inclusive on-campus event this year, representing all the cultures, nationalities and people who are a part of the rich and vibrant community of IHSM.
Some of the most interesting things included:
- A ‘Mehndi’ where traditional Indian and Pakistani Henna designs were applied to students’ hands.
- A food exchange where participants shared their respective cultural foods with others.
- Dance performances, both solo and duets.
- Friendship bands were exchanged as a way of affirming the most valuable thing we get from IHSM.
We hope and strive to keep doing more to bring different cultures and nationalities together to make everyone’s experience at IHSM as rewarding as it can get
