BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICIANS OF INDIAN ORIGIN (BAPIO)
BTA (BAPIO Training Academy) is the training arm of BAPIO in the UK and one of the largest organizations working tirelessly over the past 24 years to advance equity, diversity, inclusion and patient safety in the National Health Service (NHS). BTA works in partnership with the Heath Education England (HEE), the General Medical Council (GMC), the Royal Colleges, the NHS foundations and other educational bodies, including prestigious universities, to enhance the professional skills of medical and other healthcare professionals.
BTA has special partnerships with Health Education England (HEE) and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh to support the recruitment of doctors from Central Asia.
Representatives of BTA BAPIO visited the medical campuses of the IHSM on June 3 and 4, 2022 and the Medical Clinic of the IHSM “Vedanta”. Further, an introductory session with the IHSM students (online + offline) was held. The purpose of the signed memorandum of understanding between the two parties is to establish cooperation and agreement to facilitate training and recruitment for the following programs.
• TWO PLUS TWO = 4 years of study
2 years (training at IHSM clinical bases) + 2 years (on-the-job training at NHS hospitals in the UK).
• PLAB COACHING, a test to assess the medical and communication skills of international medical graduates for medical practice in the UK. Education under the PLAB program for medical students studying at the IHSM will be conducted from the 3rd academic year.
THE PROCESS FOR RECRUITMENT:
The candidates/fellows must be trained at medical colleges/institutes that are accredited and or listed in following bodies:

- Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

Once accepted, details will be sent to BTA for sharing with partner Central Asian medical schools and universities. BTA representatives will also facilitate selection by attending the interviews or using video or skype to ensure the candidates have the relevant experience and competencies to meet job requirements.
