One of the components of the training of students is  an Olympiad - a form of student extracurricular work on a subject. The Olympiad allows to identify gifted students, stimulates in-depth study of the subject, develops erudition, evaluates the abilities and skills of the students in solving problems, conducting experimental research, making correct conclusions and calculations. In this connection, from May 14 to May 28, 2022, the IHSM 2nd annual Biochemistry Olympiad 2022 was held at the Department of Basic Disciplines. 

The purpose of this Olympiad was to develop interest in the discipline "Biochemistry», check the quality and level of education of students and to select the best students for further work in the student scientific club of the Department. 

The Olympiad was conducted in 3 stages: 
1.    The qualifying round
2.    The practical part 
3.    The theoretical part 

At the qualifying round the students were tested. The proposed test covered various sections of biochemistry. At this round, we used different forms of test tasks: closed, open and a test to identify consistency and compliance. In the test with the open form, the students had to complete an unfinished sentence by entering the correct term or word.

In the practical round students had to demonstrate skills of working with instruments, utensils and reagents in experimental studies. During this round, the participants had to apply their abilities and skills in experimentation: modeling an experiment, conducting an experiment, recording results and interpreting them and formulating conclusions, as well as to demonstrate skills in working with laboratory equipment, the ability to write biochemical equations, use biochemical terms and apply the methods and techniques of laboratory works.

In the theoretical round, tasks were given with the aim to develop students' skills in working with scientific literature, develop the ability to conduct a comparative data analysis, draw conclusions and apply the acquired knowledge and new information.

Finally, the results for the practical and theoretical parts of the 2nd stage were calculated and obtained.
So, the results of the Olympiad in Biochemistry 2022 are as follows:

1.    1st place - Supriya  Panwar,  a student of the 4th semester, group 27;
2.    2nd place - Harshit Sharma, a student of the 4th semester, group 30;
3.    3rd place - Kashf Fatima, a student of the 3rd semester, group 21.
A certificate for active participation is awarded to the following students:
5.    Safwan Asif Khatik - a student of the 4th semester, group 30;
6.    Yashvardhan Jain – a student of the 4th semester, group 34;
7.    Muhammad Saim Ahmed - a student of the 3rd semester, group 19;
8.    Джаин Ишика - a student of the 3rd semester, group 7.
